Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let son's age be x

then fathers age = 3x

after five yars :

         sons age = x+5

         fathers age = 3x + 5

it is given that after five years

fathers age = 2 1/2 (x)

so 3x + 5 = 5x/2

6x + 10 = 5x

x = 10

fathers age is 30

Let son's age be x

Let father's age be 3x

After 5 yrs,

Father's age is two and half times that of his son

son's age be x + 5

father's age be 3x + 5

3x + 5 = 5/2 (x+5)

3x + 5 = (5x + 25)/2

2(3x + 5) = (5x + 25)

6x + 10 = 5x + 25

6x - 5x = 25-10

x = 15

Father's age = 3x

= 3*15

= 45

Son's age = 15 yrs

Father's age = 45 yrs
