Step-by-step explanation:

  • Suppose that the sum of sons' age = x
  • so father's age = 3×x =3x
  • so father's age five year later =3x - 5
  • the sum of age of sons five year later =x-10
  • so father's age five years later = 2×(x-10) =2x - 20
  • therefore 3x - 5 = 2x - 20

3x -2x = -20 + 5

x = - 15

  • Since age will be positive therefore x = 15
  • So father's present age = 3x = 3 × 15 = 45
