a faulty thermometer has its fixed points marked as 5degree and 95 degree . the temp. of a body as measured by the faulty thermometer is 59 degree.find the correct temp. of the body on celcius scale.

Here's your answer.....


Usually the thermometer fixed points basically are:

Lower point =0°c

Upper point=100°c

so in between there are 100 divisions.

each one division corresponds to 1°c

But in the above mentioned case :

Lower point=5°c

upper point=95°c

so total division=95-5=90

thus, 1 degree= 1 division=100/90

Now let us find the given temperature:

measured temperature 59 °c

=100x59/90

=65.56°c
