A fertilized ovule is a newly developed sporophyte in embryonal state. Gametes are contained in different organs in males and females. In males pollen grains contain gametes that are carried to the reproductive tract of the female where fertilization occurs and sporophyte generation is formed. Pollen tube is formed during fertilization that carries sperms to the egg cell. An embryo is formed that matures into new seed.
