A few examples of plants are chosen for intercropping as follows: soyabean+Maize,finger millet+cow pea . Why should combination of crops like above should be selected for intercropping? Mention its advantages.

The combination given ( soybean+maize+finger millet+cow pea) like you said, are commonly used for intercropping.

The reason is that these crops have somewhat dissimilar nutritional requirements. When these crops are used in intercropping, they do not turn the soil infertile.
