A field is 75 m long and 32 m wide. Two 3 m wide roads are constructed in the centre of
the field, one parallel to its length and the other parallel to its breadth. Find the area of the
cross roads and cost of levelling the roads the road at Rs. 1.80 per square metre.​

We see that the total road to be levelled= horizontal road+vertical road-the common portion to both.

Area of horizontal road= 75×3= 225m

Area of vertical road= 32×3=96m

Area of common portion= 3×3= 9m

total Area :- 225+96= 321m

321-9 = 312m

Rs. 1.80 per metre square

312×1.80= 561.6 Ans
