The value of resistance R is 26 Ω

Explanation:

Given that,

Power = 500 W

Voltage = 100 V

We need to calculate the resistance of bulb

Using formula of resistance

R_{b}=\dfrac{V^2}{P}

Put the value in to the formula

R_{b}=\dfrac{100^2}{500}

R_{b}=20\ \Omega

We need to calculate the current

Using formula of current

P = VI

I=\dfrac{P}{V}

Put the value into the formula

I=\dfrac{500}{100}

I=5\ A

We need to calculate the resistance

Using ohm's law

V =IR

Put the value into the formula

230-100=5\times R

R=\dfrac{130}{5}

R=26\ \Omega

Hence, The value of resistance R is 26 Ω
