(a) VOLUME OF CONE AND CUP

IN THE CONE,
-----------------------

RADIUS = 5 cm

HEIGHT = 8 cm

VOLUME OF CONE = 1/3 × π × r² × h

 \frac{1}{3} \pi  \times (5) {}^{2}  \times 8 \\  \\  =  \frac{1}{3}  \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 5 \times 5 \times 8 \\  \\ =   \frac{4400}{21}  \\ =  209.523cm {}^{3}

NOW,

IN THE CUP,

RADIUS = 5 cm

HEIGHT = 8 cm

VOLUME = π × r² ×h

\pi  \:   \times r {}^{2}  \times h \\  \\ =   \frac{22}{7}  \times (5) {}^{2} \times 8 \\  \\   = \frac{22}{7}   \times 5 \times 5 \times 8  \\  \\  =  \frac{4400}{7}  \\  \\  = 628.571 \: cm {}^{3}

(b) WHICH HAS MORE CAPACITY?

CAPACITY OF CONE = 209.523 cm³

CAPACITY OF CUP = 628.571 cm³
