A first order reaction has a specific reaction rate of 10^ -2 per second . How much time will it take for 20 g of the reactant to reduce 5 grams?

As we know

Half life of first order reaction = 0.693/k


Given

K=10¯²

T(half) =0.693/10¯²

T(half)=69.3 seconds

From 20grams first it will reduce to 10grams then 5 grams

So time will be in 2 steps

69.3 for first half part and 69.3 for second half

Time=69.3+69.3

=138.6 seconds
