Answer:

3/28

Step-by-step explanation:

A flashlight has 8 batteries out of which 3 are dead. If two batteries are selected without replacement and tested, then find the probability that both are dead.

Total 8 Batteries

Dead Batteries = 3

OK Batteries = 8 -3 = 5

probability that both are dead.

Probability of selecting 1st dead battery =  3/8   ( dead batteries/Total Batteries)

After selecting one dead battery now dead battery remained = 3-1 = 2

Total Batteries remained = 8-1 = 7

Probability of selecting 2nd Dead battery = 2/7  ( dead batteries/Total Batteries)

Probability fo choosing both dead batteries = (3/8) * (2/7)  = 3/28
