a flexible chain of weight W hanging between two fixed point is shown in the given figure
As we know by newton second law of motion
2 T sin Ф - W = 0
T = W / 2 sin Ф
Therefore the tension in the chain at each end can be given as
T = W / 2 sin Ф
Tension at the lowest point is 0
It can be visualized from the fact that ; The tension of magnitude T cos Ф exist in the opposite direction to cancel each other
