Required Answer:

✒ GiveN:

  • Force acting on body = 150 N
  • Pressure produced = 1200 Pa

✒ To FinD:

  • Magnitude of area in cm².......?

How to solve?

For solving the above question, let's know the relation between force, area and pressure.

  • Pressure is the force acting per unit area. It is given by :

 \large{ \boxed{ \sf{Pressure = \dfrac{Force}{Area}}}}

Better, to call force as "Thrust". It is the force acting on object perpendicular to the surface of body. SI unit of Pressure is N/m², this is denoted by Pascal(Pa). ☃️ We can change the units accordingly if we wanna do.

Solution:

We have,

  • F = 150 N
  • P = 1200 Pa

By using formula,

➝ P = F / A

➝ 1200 Pa = 150 N / A

➝ A = 150 / 1200 m²

➝ A = 1 / 8 m²

➝ A = 0.125 m²

Area of the surface = 0.125 m²

Unit conversion (m² cm²)

➝ 1 m = 100 cm

➝ 1 m × 1 m = 100 cm × 100 cm

➝ 1 m² = 10000 cm²

Then,

➝ 0.125 m² = 0.125 × 10000 cm²

➝ 0.125 m² = 125 / 1000 × 10000 cm²

➝ 0.125 m² = 1250 cm²

Area of the surface in terms of cm² = 1250 cm²

Answer:

p=f/a

to rearrange the equation

to find area

a=f/p

f=150N

p=1200pa

a=150N/1200pa

a=0.125m^2

a=10000×0.125m^2

a=1250m^2
