A force of 2000 dyne acts upon a body ofmass 1 kg. As a result, the
velocity of the body changes from 20 cm's to 5 cm/s in passing through a

Force, F = 4000 dyne

Initial speed, u = 30 cm/s

Final speed, v = 10 cm/s

Mass, m = 1 kg = 1000 g

Retardation, a = F/m = 4000/1000 = 4 cm/s2

Now,

v2 = u2 - 2as [negative sign is because of the retardation]

=> 102 = 302 – 2(4)s

=> s = 100 cm
