Answer:

Pressure is defined as Force exerted per unit area.

Here the SI unit of Force is Newton and SI unit for Area is m².

Given values:

  • Force = 200 N
  • Area = 10 cm²

Since Area is not expressed in the standard unit we must convert it to the standard unit.

We know that, 1 m² = 10⁴ cm². Then,  10 cm² equals ?

⇒ 1 m² : 10⁴ cm² :: x : 10 cm²

Product of Means = Product of extremes

⇒  10 × 1 = 10⁴ × x

⇒ 10 = 10⁴ x

⇒ x = 10 / 10⁴ = 10⁻³ m²

Hence Area is 10⁻³ m².

Now calculating Pressure we get,

⇒ 200 N / 10⁻³ m²

⇒ 200 × 10³ N/m²

⇒ 2 × 10⁵ N/m² which is 2 × 10⁵ Pa

Hence the pressure exerted is 2 × 10⁵ N/m² or 2 × 10⁵ Pa.

Hope it helped !!
