Given:

✰ Force ( F ) = 250 N

✰ Force is acting on an area X.

✰ Pressure ( P ) = 1000 Pa

To find:

✠ Calculate the magnitude of X in cm square.

Solution:

Pressure is the force that is acting per unit area.

  • Effect of a force on a surface besides its magnitude, depends on the surface area over which the force is applied. Bigger the area, lesser will be the effect of the force on the surface area.

Pressure = Force/Area

➥ P = F/A

➥ A = F/P

Putting the values in the formula and then doing the required calculations, we have:

➥ X = 250/1000

➥ X = 25/100

➥ X = 5/20

➥ X = 1/4

X = 0.25

If need to find the magnitude of X in terms of cm square.

➥ 1 m² = 100 × 100 cm²

➥ 1 m² = 10000 cm²

➥ 0.25 m² = 0.25 × 10000 cm²

➥ X = 2500 cm²

The magnitude of X ( Area ) in cm square = 2500 cm²

Answer:

Given:

✰ Force ( F ) = 250 N

✰ Force is acting on an area X.

✰ Pressure ( P ) = 1000 Pa

To find:

✠ Calculate the magnitude of X in cm square.

Solution:

Pressure is the force that is acting per unit area.

Effect of a force on a surface besides its magnitude, depends on the surface area over which the force is applied. Bigger the area, lesser will be the effect of the force on the surface area.

✭ Pressure = Force/Area ✭

➥ P = F/A

➥ A = F/P

Putting the values in the formula and then doing the required calculations, we have:

➥ X = 250/1000

➥ X = 25/100

➥ X = 5/20

➥ X = 1/4

➥ X = 0.25 m²

If need to find the magnitude of X in terms of cm square.

➥ 1 m² = 100 × 100 cm²

➥ 1 m² = 10000 cm²

➥ 0.25 m² = 0.25 × 10000 cm²

➥ X = 2500 cm²

∴ The magnitude of X ( Area ) in cm square = 2500 cm²
