it's work is scalar quantity its depends upon on magnitude so answer is
w=f.d
=(3i+2j+4k).10j
=20

Answer:

Work done will be  20 J.

Explanation:

  • Work done: Work done is the dot product of force and displacement. If force is F and displacement is S then the work done is expressed as: W =  F . S
  • Although force and displacement both are vector quantities but their dot product (work done) is a scalar quantity.
  • Calculation of work done:

       In dot product we know that: i.i = j.j = k.k = 1

                                                and  i.j = j.k = k.i = 0

     Given force = F = 3i+2j+4k      and    displacement = S = 10j

     Work done = W =  = (3i+2j+4k) . 10j

                                    = 30i.j + 20 j.j + 40 k.j

                                    = 0 + 20 + 0 = 20 J

    ∴ Work done will be  20 J.
