A force of 5 N gives a mass m1, an acceleration of 10 m s–2 and a mass m2, an acceleration of 20 m s-2. What acceleration would it give if both the masses were tied together?

force=5N
acceleration =10m/s^2
mass (m1)=?
force=mass×acceleration
mass=force/acceleration
=5/10
0.5kg
then
other body
force=5 Newton
acceleration=20 m/s
mass(m2)=?

similarly
m2=5/20
=0.25kg
then
both masses tied together
(0.25+0.5)=0.3kg
then
acceleration=?
force=5N
mass=0.3kg

acceleration =force/mass
=5/0.3
=16.66m/s^2

Answer:

force=5N

acceleration =10m/s^2

mass (m1)=?

force=mass×acceleration

mass=force/acceleration

=5/10

0.5kg

then

other body

force=5 Newton

acceleration=20 m/s

mass(m2)=?

similarly

m2=5/20

=0.25kg

then

both masses tied together

(0.25+0.5)=0.3kg

then

acceleration=?

force=5N

mass=0.3kg

acceleration =force/mass

=5/0.3

=16.66m/s^2
