A force of 5n gives a mass of m1 , an acceleration of 8m/s square and a mass m2 , an acceleration of 24m/s square . What acceleration would it give if both the masses are tied together?

F=ma

case 1

5=m1x 8

 

m1= 5/8

 

case 2

5=m2x 24

m2 = 5/24

 

case 3

F=(m1+m2) xa 

a= F/(m1+m2)

 

=5/(5/8+5/24)

=6m/s2
