Let the force be F

so acceleration of the 1st body is 6m/s² and mass is 2kg

hence F=ma= 12 N

now the same force produce an acceleration of 3m/s² in another body hence mass of the other body is F/a = 12 / 3= 4 kg

When both the bodies are fastened they can be treated as one system and the total mass of the system being 4+3 = 7 kg and F = 12 N

∴ a= 12/7 m/s²
