Fraction = x/y
If 2 is added to both numerator and denominator
(x + 2) / (y + 2) = 9/11
11x + 22 = 9y + 18
11x - 9y = -4
Multiply both sides by 5
55x - 45y = -20 ……(1)
If 3 is added to both numerator and denominator
(x + 3) / (y + 3) = 5/6
6x + 18 = 5y + 15
6x - 5y = -3
Multiply both sides by 9
54x - 45y = -27 ……(2)
(2) - (1)
54x - 45y - 55x + 45y = -27 + 20
x = 7
If x = 7 ; Eq (1) becomes
55*7 - 45y = -20
45y = 385 + 20
45y = 405
y = 9
∴ Fraction = x/y = 7/9
