now, x-1/y = 1/3

3x-3=y

3x-y =3.......... (1)

again, x/ y-8 = 1/4

4x = y+8

4x-y = 8........... (2)

now , equation 1 - equation 2

3x -4y - 4x +y =3 -8

x = 5

so frim equation 1
y= 3x-3 = 12

so fraction = x/ y = 5/12
