Let the fraction be x/y
A. To. Q
(x-1)/y=1/3
3x-3=y
3x-y=3------------------------eq(1)
x/(y+8)=1/4
4x=y+8
4x-y=8--------------------------eq(2)
eq(1)-eq(2)
-x=-5
x=5
Put x=5 in eq(1)
15-y=3
y=12
Hence the fraction is5/12
