By cross multiplication we get

3x-3=y........... (1)

and it becomes 1/4 when it is added to the denominator

X/y+8=1/8

4x=y+8

on putting the value of Y in equation first we get

4x=3x-3+8

X=5

Putting the value of x in eq 1

3*5-3=y

Y=15- 3

Y=12.
