Answer:

Let us assume th fraction to be x/y, where x is the numerator of the fraction and y is the denominator of the fraction.

Now, according to the question,

➸ x+1/y-1 = 1 ....(1)

Again, according to the question,

➸ x/y+1 = ½ .....(2)

We need to find the fraction that is x/y.

By Equation 1,

➸ x + 1 = y - 1

➸ x = y - 1 - 1

➸ x = y - 2

➸ x - y + 2 = 0 ....(3)

By Equation 2,

➸ 2x = y + 1

➸ 2x - y - 1 = 0 ....(4)

Subtracting Equation 4 from equation 3,

2x - y - 1 = 0

x - y + 2 = 0

-...+... -...........

__________

➸ x - 3 = 0

➸ x = 3

From equation 4,

➸ 2x - y - 1 = 0

➸ 2(3) - y - 1 = 0

➸ 6 - y - 1 = 0

➸ 5 - y = 0

➸ -y = -5

➸ y = 5

Hence, the fraction is 3/5.

VERIFICATION

Equation 1 : x+1/y-1 = 1.

➸ 3+1/5-1 = 4/4 = 1

Equation 2 : x/y+1 = ½.

➸ 3/5+1 = 3/6 = ½

Hence, Verified.
