• Let number of oranges be M.

_______ [ ASSUME ]

A fruit seller sells 30% oranges and still has 140 oranges

________________ [ GIVEN ]

• We have to find the number of oranges.

______________________________

Fruit seller 30% of oranges.

So,

=> (100 - 30) = 70

He sell 70 oranges.

Now..

=> 70% of oranges = 140

=> 70/100 × M = 140

=> 70M/100 = 140

=> 70M = 140 × 100

=> 70M = 14000

=> M = 14000/70

=> M = 200

_____________________________

Total number of oranges he had = 200 oranges.

___________ [ ANSWER]

____________________________

☆ VERIFICATION :

From above calculations we have M = 200

Put value of M in this : 70/100 ×M = 140

=> 70/100× 200 = 140

=> 7/10 × 200 = 140

=> 1400/10 = 140

=> 140 = 140

Answer:

Given,

sold = 30% of total oranges

remained with him= 140

Explanation:

let the total number of oranges be x

30% of x + 140 = x

 \frac{30}{100}  \times x + 140 = x \\ =   \frac{3x}{10} + 140 = x

 \\ x -  \frac{3x}{10}  = 140 \\  \frac{10x - 3x}{10}  = 140

 \frac{7x}{10}  = 140 \\ x = 200
