A future without plastic waste - through sustainability and circularity

We come across the use of plastic almost every day, it has become a part of our daily life. It is present everywhere in everything from grocery bags and cutlery to water bottles and packings of different materials, making its consumption very high. We are failing to use plastic efficiently leading to wastage of valuable resources and harming of the environment. Plastic is a product made from organic fuel and chemical reaction, which had dominated the market many years ago as a cheap, durable and good material for use. But today, the same plastic has become a problem for the world because its disposal is the biggest challenge as it is non biodegradable in nature.

As it is non biodegradable, burning it causes air and land pollution, while throwing it in water bodies leads to water pollution and death of aquatic organisms. In short we can conclude that plastic cannot be eliminated, but we can minimise the use of plastic by following 4R's which are as follows:-

1) Refuse- As the word by itself states, we should not buy articles made up of plastic instead, we should reuse the materials we already have.

2) Reduse- We must reduce the usage of plastic from our day to day life. We should start using cloth or paper bag and paper straw insted of using polly bag and plastic straws respectively.

3) Reuse- Objects made up of plastic must be used again and again. Like one can use plastic bags and plastic containers multiple times before they finally become non usable.

4) Recycle- If in case, plastic items cannot be reused, we should recycle them to make new products out on them. This way, instead of going to any landfill as a waste it will become another useful product.

We have to do all possible things to save our earth from getting destroyed. It is time for us to stand united to fight this evil called plastic pollution which is hollowing out our environment and one day which will become a big threat to human existence. If every person on the earth takes a pledge that he or she will eliminate or minimise the use of plastic from their lives, then I am very confident that the plastic monster will end here.

As said by M.K.Gandhi, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Let's join in our hands together to make our future free from plastic waste.

Hope it helps you.
