A galvanometer having resistance 20 and carrying current 40ma is converted into ammeter by 0.5 what resistance needed

S/G = current through galvanometer/ current through shunt

so, S/G= 40 × 10^-3/0.5= 8 ×10^-2

S= 20 × 8× 10^-2= 1.6 ohm is the answer
