Hii Dear,

◆ Answer -

Rs = 0.02 Ω

● Explanation -

# Given -

Ig = 1 mA = 0.001 A

Rg = 20 Ω

I = 1 A

# Solution -

Shunt resistance added to convert galvanometer to ammeter is calculated by -

Rs = Ig.Rg / (I-Ig)

Rs = 0.001 × 20 / (1 - 0.001)

Rs = 0.02 Ω

Therefore, a shunt resistance of 0.02 Ω need to be connected parallel to the galvanometer to convert it into ammeter.

Hope this is helpful...

\large\underline{\underline{\sf Resistance\:of\:shunt\:is\:0.02\:ohm}}

\Huge\underline{\underline{\sf Solution}}

\large\underline{\underline{\sf Given:}}

  • Galvanometer resistance (G) = 20ohm

  • Current (i) = 1A

  • Current through galvanometer \sf{i_g}= 0.01 A

\large\underline{\underline{\sf To\:Find:}}

  • Shunt resistance (S) = ?

We know ,

\large{\boxed{\sf S=\frac{i_gG}{i-i_g}}}

On Putting value

\large\implies{\sf \frac{10^{-3}×20}{1-0.001}}

\large\implies{\sf \frac{0.02}{0.999}}

\large\implies{\sf 0.02\:ohm}

Hence ,
