A garden is 15 m X 10 m. It has a 2.5 m wide flower bed all around outside it. There is also a 1.5 m wide grassy path all around and outside the flower bed. Find the area of the flower bed and grassy path respectively.

Dimension of the garden = 15m × 20m

Width of the flower bed = 2.5 m

Width of the grassy path = 2.5 m

So,

The area of the garden = 15×20

                                       = 300 m²

Dimensions of the garden including the flower bed =  [15 + (2.5 × 2)] [20 +(2.5 × 2)]

= (15 + 5) (20 + 5)

= 20m × 25m

Area of the garden including the flower bed = (25 × 20) = 500 m²

So,the volume of the flower bed = (500-300) = 200 m²

Dimensions of the garden including the flower bed and grassy path = [20+(2.5 × 2)] [25 + (2.5 × 2)]

= (20 + 5)  (25 + 5) = 25m × 30m

So,the area of the garden including the flower bed and grassy path = (25 × 30) = 750 m²

So,the are of the grassy path = (750 - 500)

= 250 m²

Hope this helps uh! ♡

Answer :-

  • Dimension of the garden = 15m × 20m
  • Width of the flower bed = 2.5 m
  • Width of the grassy path = 2.5 m

So,

The area of the garden = 15×2 = 300 m².

Dimensions of the garden including the flower bed = [15 + (2.5 × 2)] [20 +(2.5 × 2)]

→ (15 + 5) (20 + 5)

→ 20m × 25m

  • Area of the garden including the flower bed = (25 × 20) = 500 m²

So,

The volume of the flower bed = (500-300) = 200 m²

Dimensions of the garden including the flower bed and grassy path = [20+(2.5 × 2)] [25 + (2.5 × 2)]

↝ (20 + 5) (25 + 5) = 25m × 30m

↝ (25 × 30) = 750 m²

↝ (750 - 500)

↝ 250 m² Ans.
