A garden is in the shape of a square. The area of the square ABCD is 289m2 with each side (x + 4)m.

answer the following questions:

(i) Find the value of x.

(ii) Find the side of the square shaped garden.​

Answer:

Area of square = side^2

289 =  {(x + 4)}^{2}  \\  \sqrt{289}  = (x + 4) \\ 17 = x + 4 \\ x = 13

Therefore, side of square = 13 + 4

Side of square = 17 cm
