a gardener has 1000 plants. he wants to arrange them in such a way that the no. of rows and columns remain same. how many minimum no. of plants he need more for this ?

no. of plants in each row & column should be equal. Hence the no. of plants required is a perfect square. Nearest square no. from 1000 is square of 32 i.e. 1024. therefore the no. of plants he need=1024-1000=24.
