he has 1000 plants
1000 is not a perfect square
31*31 = 961
32*32 =1024
he needs 1024-1000=24
more plants such that he can plant number of rows = number of columns =32

As the Gardener has 1000 plants and he need to plant these plant such way that no. Of columns and no. Of rows are same

So, 1000 is not a perfect square so the perfect square near it is

32*32=1024

Hence the gardener need 24 plants more to make his rows and columns equal....... Which will be 32 rows*32 columns.
