Answer:

A gas is allowed to expand at constant temperature from an initial volume of 10 ml to a final volume of 300 ml. At the end of the expansion, the pressure of the gas was found to be 1 atmosphere. What was the initial pressure of the gas?

Here the volume of the gas increases from 10 ml to 300 ml. ie the volume has expanded 30- times. So automatically the pressure of the gas would have decreased 30- times.

If the final Pressure is1-atmosphere, then the initial will be(30 x1)= 30 Atmospheres. ============================= (Or)

P1V1=P2V2

P1 x 10= 1 x 300

So P1= 1 x300/10

= 30 Atmospheres.
