A gas jar filled with bromine gas (denser than air) was placed over a gas jar containing air. The gases were allowed to settle for four hours. What do we observe?
(1) Bromine remains on the top
(2) Bromine settles at the bottom
(3) Bromine gets diffused in the air
(4) Bromine starts moving towards the top

If bromine gas is allowed to settle in the air containing jar then (3) Bromine gets diffused in the air

When bromine is added to a gas jar filled with air,  the red-brown gas is seen to slowly diffuse through the air. The many collisions between the bromine molecules  and the air molecules slow down the rate  at which the red-brown bromine gas fills the jar.

Hence the correct answer will be (3) Bromine gets diffused in the air
