Answer ⇒ The mole fraction of SO₂ is 1/3.

Explanation ⇒ Let the mass of the sulphur dioxide and Oxygen be m grams.

Molar mass of Oxygen = 32 g/mole.

Molar mass of Sulphur dioxide = 64 g/mole.

∴ moles of Oxygen = m/32

moles of Sulphur dioxide = m/64

Now, Mole Fraction of Sulphur dioxide = moles of SO₂/(M=moles of SO₂ + moles of O₂)

= (m/64)/(m/64 + m/32)

= (1/64)/(3/64)

= 1/3

Hence, the mole fraction of SO₂ is 1/3.

Hope it helps.
