Speed of the boy = 10mph

Solution,

We know that, Speed = Distance/Time

According to the question,

Speed of the girl = 5mph

and, the speed of the boy = 10mph

Here, 10mph = 2 x 5mph

⇒ If the girl travels 5m in an hour then, after one hour she reaches 10m.

⇒ If the boy starts after one he will reach 10m in an hour.

Hence, it will take 1 hour for the boy to catch up with the girl.
