Well first of all thank you for for the question;


This question is good because it clearly differentiates between distance and displacement


Now,


The girl goes back and forth;

So,

The net distance = 80 + 80

=160 m


For displacement;

Net displacement = Final point - initial point

Since the final point and the initial points are the same

Displacement = 0


So, the distance covered is 160m and the displacement is 0 m

As the total length of the pool is 80 cm, therefore the distance covered by the girl in order to come back after swimming will be 80 + 80 = 160 m.

Displacement is the net shift in the motion of the girl in course of the swimming which can vary depending upon the speed.
