A girl walks 200 towards East and then she walks 150m towards North. find the distance of the girl from the starting point.

When we draw a figure of her position, we will get a right angled triangle.
The distance she covers in North and east are legs and distance between the start to end point is the hypotenuse.
From the Pythagoras theorem,
Leg^2+Leg^2=Hypotenuse^2
(150m)^2+(200m)^2= Hypotenuse^2
22500m^2+40000m^2= Hypotenuse ^2
62500m^2=Hypotenuse ^2
Hypotenuse = 250m
