a girl weighing 50kg is standing on pencil heels, each having an area of cross-section of 1cm.square. An elephant weighing 200kg and whose foot covers an area of cross-section of 250cm.square standing on the floor. Which of the 2 exerts more pressure?
Note: {Pressure=force/area, force=mass × acceleration due to gravity (i.e.10)}
Also note that area of one shoe and leg is 1cm and 250cm sqaure respectively

Given,

Force of girl = 50kg * 10m/s^2 = 500N
Area = 1cm^2 = 0.0001m^2
Pressure due to girl = 500/0.001
                                  = 500,000 Pa.

Force of elephant = 200 * 10m/s^2 = 2000N
Area = 250cm^2= 0.025m^2
Pressure due to elephant = 2000/0.025
                                            = 80000 Pa

So the girl exerts more pressure on the floor.

Hope this helps!
