(a) As shown in the figure below, when an object is placed between the focus of the concave mirror and the focus, the image formed is erect, virtual and magnified. From the image, you can see that the object AB is placed between the focus of a concave mirror and the pole. The image AB formed behind is erect, virtual and magnified.

2. As shown in the figure below, when an object is placed between the focus and the centre of curvature, the image formed is inverted, real and enlarged. In this image, the object AB is placed in between the focus and the centre of curvature. The image formed is inverted, real and enlarged.

(b) From the above explanations, it is proved that circumstance 1, where the object is placed between the focus and the pole of a concave mirror, can be used as a shaving mirror.
