First of all u should know what are hydrocarbons, these r the compounds which r made up of hydrogen and carbon ,
a compound which are made up of hydrocarbon and its derivatives are known as organic compounds these may be classified into two groups the first one that is the open chain compound and the second one is cyclic compounds the open chain compounds are those compounds which do not form rings while cyclic compounds are those compounds which form rings ,cyclic compounds may be divided into two groups that is the homocyclic compounds and heterocyclic compounds.homocyclic compounds are also known as Carboxylic compounds ,these are the compounds which contains only single atom rings
