Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

s = 10 m

◆ Explaination -

# Given -

R = 20 cm = 0.2 m

t = 10 s

u = ?

# Solution -

For maximum horizontal distance -

Rmax = u².sin2θ/g

0.2 = u².sin(45°×2)/10

u² = 2

u = √2 m/s

Horizontal speed of grasshopper is -

ux = u.cosθ

ux = √2 × cos45°

ux = √2 × 1/√2

ux = 1 m/s

Distance traveled by grasshopper in 10 s is -

s = ux.t

s = 1 × 10

s = 10 m

Thus, grasshopper can go 10 m along the road in 10 s.

Hope this helps you...
