length of the gymnasium = 50m

breadth of the gymnasium = 30m

a/c to question,

a running track 2.5m wide runs all round it on the inside .

so, area of the track = area of gymnasium - area of part of gymnasium which is inside the track
= 50m × 30m - (50 - 2 × 2.5 )m × (30 - 2 × 2.5)m

= 1500 m² - (50 - 5)m × (30 - 5)m

= 1500 m² - 45 × 25 m²

= 1500 m² - 1125 m²

= 375m²

hence, area of the track is 375 m²
