a hall is 26m long and 18m wide has a verandah all round outside. The width of verandah along the length and breadth is 2m wide. Find the area of verandah

Let inner area be a rectangle with 26 m and 18 m as length and breadth respectively.

Then, after including verandah its length and breadth will be
= 26+2+2= 30 m
= 18 +2+2= 22 m

Area of Outer rectangle= 30 m× 22 m
= 660 m^2

Inner area = 26 m× 18 m
=468 m^2

Area of verandah= 660 m^2- 468 m^2
= 192 m^2
