Answer:

Height = 5m

Step-by-step explanation:

I think there is a mistake in question , we have to find the height of hall instead of length.

Given---> A hall is 36m long and 24m broad allowing 40 m² for door and window the cost of papering the wall at rupees 8.40 per m² is rupees 4704

To find ---> Height of the hall.

Solution----> ATQ,

Cost of papering the wall per m² = Rupees 8.40

Total cost of papering = Rupees 4704

Now if we divide total cost of papering by cost of papering per m² , we get , area which is papered

ie area of walls minus area allowed for doors and windows .

Area to be papered = 4704 / 8.40

= 470400 / 840

= 560 m²

Let height of the hall be h .

Area of four walls = 2 ( l + b ) h

= 2 ( 36 + 24 ) h

= 2 ( 60 ) h

= 120 h m²

Area to be papered = Area of four walls - Area allowed for doors and walls

=> 560 = 120 h - 40

=>560 + 40 = 120 h

=> 600 = 120 h

=> h = 600 / 120

=> h = 5 m
