m = 500g = 0.5 kg

v = 0 m/s

u = 50 m/s

t = 0.01 s

F = m(v-u) / t
F = 0.5 (50-0) / 0.01
F = 0.5 x 50 x 100 / 1
F = 2500 N

Force of nail = 2500 N

ANSWER :

Mass of the hammer ( m ) = 500g = 0.5kg

Initial Velocity of hammer ( u ) = 50 m/s

Final velocity of hammer ( v ) = 0

and  Time ( t ) = 0,01 s

Therefore, Acceleration of the hammer, a = v-u/t = 0 ₋50/0.01 = ₋ 5000 m/s²

Therefore, Force applied by the hammer on nail

                       F = ma = ( 0.5 ) × ( ₋ 5000 )

                                  =  ₋ 2500 N

Negative sign of force suggests that  the force is opposing the motion of hammer.

Therefore, Force applied by the nail on hammer = 2500N
