A hammer weighing 3kg,moving with a velocity of 10m/s strikes the head of a spike and drives into a block of wood .if the hammer come into rest in 0.025s the impulse associated with the Ball will be-
(a)30N
(b)-30N
(c)15N
(d)-15N

Impulse (I) is given as
I=(F/t)...........1
where
F: force and t: time of impact

and F=mxa that means we have to find a to find F
so, by using equation of motion
v-u=at
a=(v-u)/t
a=(0-10)/0.025
a= -400m/s²

F=mxa
F=3x400
F=1200N

I=F/t
I=1200/0.025
I=30Ns

SKS225: thanks
Prashant24IITBHU: no problem bro
