(i) The acceleration during the impact is, -500{\frac{m}{s}}^{2}.

(ii) The time interval during the impact is 0.02 sec.

(iii) The impluse on the Hammer is -10 Ns.

Explanation:

A hammer is hitting the nail with velocity 10 metre per second and the nail is driven inside the wall up to 10 centimetre.

To calculate acceleration time and Impulse of the reaction the following method is utilized.

(i) v^2 = u^2 + 2as

0 = {10 ms^{-1}}^2 + 2 \times a \times \frac{10}{100}

a = \frac{-100}{2\times{\frac{1}{10}}}

= -500{\frac{m}{s}}^{2}

The acceleration during the impact is, -500{\frac{m}{s}}^{2}.

(ii) v = u + at

t = \frac{v-u}{a}

t = \frac{0-10}{-500}

t = 0.02 sec

The time interval during the impact is 0.02 sec.

(iii)I = F \times \Delta t

I = (m \times a) \times 0.02

I = (1 \times -500) \times (0.02)

I = -10 Ns.

The impluse on the Hammer is -10 Ns.
