Given,
Price of eggs per dozen= x Rs.
Hawker buys 12 dozen at 12*x Rs.
•°•Cost Price(C.P) of 12 dozen eggs = 12x
Now, Hawker sells with a different price.
Hawker sells 8 dozen at a price of 3x/2 per dozen.
=> Price of 8 dozen= 8* (3x/2)= 12x
Hawker also sells 4 dozen at a price of x/2 per dozen
=> Price of 4 dozen= 4* (x/2)= 2x
°•° Selling Price (S.P) of 12 dozen eggs= 12x + 2x= 14x
we have,
C.P= 12x
S.P= 14x
Clearly, S.P is greater than C.P.
So the seller is said to have incurred a 'profit' or 'gain'.
Gain = (S.P) - (C.P)
•°• Gain= 14x - 12x= 2x
Gain%= (Gain/C.P)*100
=(2x/12x)*100
=100/6
•°• Gain%= 16.67%
Hope it helps
