A heater coil is cut into two equal parts one of them is used as the coil in the same heater. a. What happens to the resistance of the coil? b. What happens to the heat produces and resistivity of the wire?

a. When resistance is cut into two equal parts, then it becomes two resistors in the series. While substituting this in heat equation- the heat energy will double.

b. Heating the metal conductor causes atoms to vibrate more, which in turn makes it more difficult for the electrons to flow, increasing the resistance. Heating the wire increases resistivity.
